Country Charm leaves lasting memory

Old country charm with a touch of elegance.  That's an appropriate way to describe Memories Cafe' & Tea Room.  Memories, run by Sheran Carter, is just one component of a business that has a little something for everyone.

In addition to the tea room, Carter operates Unique Art Antique, and September Springs Ranch.  The tea room is a place where you can have a healthy meal, consisting of daily soup, sandwich or salad specials, or simply relax and enjoy a cup of tea, and a special treat.  Memories' speciality is Devonshire Cream Tea which is a warm scone covered with a generous portion of clotted cream, and choice of strawberry or saskatoon berry jam or marmalade and a cup of tea or coffee.  The tea room is located in the antique shop which means you can browse before, after, or even during your visit.  A new 20-seat, glass sunroom has also been added which affords visitors a breathtaking view of the Rocky Mountains.  On Sunday afternoons throughout the summer guests can dine while they listen to the sound of live piano playing.

The antique shop features two floors of items which Sheran has collected over many years from all over the world.  Some of the pieces are 300 years old.  The selection runs the whole spectrum from a wrench to toys, said Carter, but the furniture and china particularly are pieces the antique lover won't find elsewhere.  "There's something here for everybody," she said.

In addition to antiques, Sheran also has a selection of crafts, gifts, fashion, jewelry and specialty foods.  September Springs offers organic produce such as fresh berries and vegetables and herbs in season.  It also has perennials, seeds, and Sheran's famous irises - she has 25 colours and three different varieties which bloom in a fabulous rainbow on the lane leading up to the ranch.  She also has unique accommodation for the "heartier" types including a teepee and the old Blairmore Ski Lodge which comes complete without electricity or indoor plumbing.  Memories Tea Room is located two kilometres west of Pincher Creek on Secondary Highway 507.
